Update your profile
You can update the name and avatar shown on your account, but the steps are different on native and web.
Before you start
- You need to be signed in.
- You can update your name on iPhone, Android, and web.
- You can add, replace, or remove your avatar on iPhone, Android, and web.
- On web, profile updates happen in the Manage account popup.
iPhone / Android
Open Edit Profile
- Tap your avatar.
- Tap Edit Profile.
Update your name
- Enter your First Name and Last Name.
- Tap Save Changes.
Change your photo
- Tap Change Photo.
- Allow photo library access if prompted.
- Choose an image and crop it.
The photo uploads right away. You do not need to tap Save Changes for the avatar change.
Remove your photo
- Tap Remove.
- Confirm that you want to remove the photo.
After removal, your avatar falls back to the default image or your initials.
Web
Open Manage account
- Click your avatar in the app.
- Choose Manage account.
- In the popup, open the Profile section.
- Choose Update profile.
Update your name and avatar
In Update profile, you can:
- add or replace your avatar with Upload
- remove your current avatar with Remove
- edit your First name and Last name
- click Save to keep your changes
Notification preferences
Your profile also includes notification settings.
Use Notification Preferences to:
- turn email notifications on or off
- open Customize notifications
- choose email or In-app & push alerts for each notification type
Notification types include messages, reviews received, seller feedback about you as a buyer, review requests, review reminders, buyer feedback reminders, proposal updates, and listing expiration reminders. Some system reminders may be sent using default account notification settings even when they do not appear as a separate row in Customize notifications.
On iPhone and Android, the In-app & push setting also controls whether that notification type can send push notifications to your device.

Native and web differences
- iPhone / Android: profile editing happens in the app’s Edit Profile screen.
- Web: profile editing happens in the Manage account popup under Profile > Update profile.
- iPhone / Android: avatar upload may ask for photo library permission on your device.
- Web: avatar upload happens in the browser popup and uses Upload, Remove, and Save controls.
- iPhone / Android and web: notification preferences are available from your profile area when you are signed in.
Troubleshooting
”The app won’t let me pick a photo”
The app needs photo library permission before it can upload an avatar.
- iPhone: open Settings and allow photo library access for the app.
- Android: open Settings and allow photo or media access for the app.
Then return to the app and try Change Photo again.
”I don’t see Update profile on web”
Start from your avatar menu, choose Manage account, then open Profile and select Update profile.
”My old name is still showing”
Try refreshing the app or opening your profile again after saving.
”I opened notification settings from an email”
Some emails can open your profile with Customize notifications already open. Change the settings you want, then close the sheet to return to your profile.Last modified on May 19, 2026
