AI review summaries

AI review summaries help you scan patterns from verified reviews and seller feedback without reading every entry first. They are meant to summarize reputation signals, not replace your judgment. Always read recent reviews, check the listing details, and ask questions before you buy or sell.
Summaries are based on verified platform activity. They do not use private messages, unverified reports, or information outside The Animal Traders.

Where summaries appear

You may see summaries on:
  • seller profiles
  • individual member profiles
  • buyer reputation views
  • listing or reputation surfaces that show profile context
The title may change depending on what you are viewing:
  • AI Review Summary: usually based on buyer-to-seller reviews
  • AI Feedback Summary: based on seller-to-buyer feedback
  • AI Review Summary on All: may combine seller and buyer reputation for an individual member
Organizations only have seller-side reputation, so they do not have a buyer-side summary.

What summaries are based on

The system looks at verified activity tied to completed transactions, such as:
  • reviews buyers leave for sellers
  • feedback sellers leave for buyers
  • written comments when available
  • recent rating and activity patterns
Star ratings can contribute to reputation even when there is no written comment. Written comments are what make a useful text summary possible.
If a profile has ratings but no written comments, it may still show reputation and trust signals without an AI summary.

Why a summary might be missing

A summary may not appear when:
  • there is not enough verified activity yet
  • the profile has ratings but no written comments
  • the latest trust evaluation has not finished yet
  • the profile is not eligible for a public summary
  • the member or organization has no activity in the selected profile view
For example, an individual member might have a seller summary under As seller but no buyer summary under As buyer if sellers have not left feedback for that member yet.

How to read a summary

Use the summary as a starting point:
  1. Read the profile’s trust badge and rating count.
  2. Check whether you are viewing All, As seller, or As buyer.
  3. Read recent reviews or feedback for specific examples.
  4. Ask follow-up questions before committing to a transaction.
A short or missing summary does not automatically mean something is wrong. It often means there is not enough written verified activity to summarize yet.

Summaries and trust badges

AI summaries and trust badges are related, but they are not the same thing.
ItemWhat it helps with
Trust badgeShows whether recent verified activity meets platform trust standards
AI summarySummarizes patterns in written reviews or feedback
Star ratingShows the average rating from verified activity
Review countShows how much verified activity is available
For more about badges, see Trust badges. For more about reviews and feedback, see Reviews & reputation.

If a summary seems wrong

AI summaries can miss nuance or phrase something imperfectly. If a summary seems inconsistent with the reviews you can see:
  • read the underlying reviews or feedback
  • check which profile view is selected
  • refresh later if a review was submitted recently
  • report review content that violates our standards
For safety standards and reporting, see Moderation & Family Safety.
