Listing expiration and renewal reminders
Listings stay live for the duration selected during listing creation. As that window gets close to ending, The Animal Traders can remind sellers before buyers lose access to the listing.
When reminders are sent
Sellers may receive listing expiration reminders when a listing is still active and has inventory left.
- 7 days before expiration: a reminder that the listing is expiring soon
- 3 days before expiration: a final reminder before the listing window ends
- After expiration: a renewal reminder if the listing expired with inventory still available
Sold-out listings do not receive expiration reminders. If every inventory row reaches 0, the listing is treated as sold out instead of needing an expiration nudge.
What the reminders include
Listing expiration reminders can arrive by email, in the app, and by push notification, depending on account and device settings.
Pre-expiration emails include:
- the listing title
- how many days are left
- a link to view the listing
- practical marketing tips for the current listing
- an Extend your listing action when your role can manage the listing
Expired-listing emails include:
- the listing title
- a link to view the listing
- a Renew your listing action when your role can manage the listing
Expired-listing emails do not include marketing tips because buyers can no longer find the expired listing. The next step is to renew it.
Extend vs Renew
Use Extend when the listing is still active and you want to keep it visible beyond its current expiration date.
Use Renew when the listing window has already ended and you want to start a new listing window for the remaining animals.
Both actions open the existing listing flow at the review step, with the listing already loaded in manage mode. The review step shows listing duration, add-ons, and the total due. Paid Extend and Renew checkout for published listings is rolling out separately from first-time draft activation. For how new listings are billed today, see Listing fees and activation.
For personal listings, the seller receives the Extend or Renew action.
For organization listings:
- Owners, admins, and managers receive the Extend or Renew action.
- Staff receive the reminder without the action button.
Staff can still use the information in the reminder and open the listing, but Extend and Renew are billing-related listing actions reserved for leadership roles.
Change notification settings
Email notifications are separate from in-app and push notifications. The In-app & push setting controls both the notification center and push delivery.
