Moderation & Family Safety
The Animal Traders is built to be a place families can comfortably browse. To support that, we moderate content shared on the platform and take action when something doesn’t meet our safety standards.
What we moderate
We may review or take action on content that appears across the app, including:
- Listing photos and videos
- Listing titles and descriptions
- Profile content (names, bios, images)
- Messages and interactions when reported
How moderation works
Moderation is a combination of:
Automated screening
Some content may be automatically screened for safety signals (for example: explicit content, graphic violence, harassment, or spam). If something is flagged, it may be blocked from appearing publicly until it’s updated or reviewed.
If you see content that feels unsafe or inappropriate, you can report it. Reports help us prioritize review and improve the platform.
Review and enforcement
When content is flagged (by automation or a user report), we may:
- Remove or hide the content
- Ask for edits (for example: replace an image or update wording)
- Restrict features (like messaging or uploading) for repeat issues
- Suspend or ban accounts for severe or repeated violations
What we don’t allow
To keep the platform safe and family-friendly, we don’t allow content that includes (or promotes):
- Sexual content: nudity, pornography, sexual services, or sexual exploitation of any kind
- Graphic violence or gore
- Hate speech or extremist content
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or doxxing
- Illegal activity or instructions for wrongdoing
- Animal abuse or cruelty, including content that depicts harm or encourages neglect
- Scams and spam, including deceptive listings or misleading claims
We may also restrict content that includes excessive profanity, disturbing imagery, or other material that isn’t appropriate for a broad audience.
What happens when something is flagged
Depending on severity, you might see one of these outcomes:
- Upload blocked: a photo/video won’t finish uploading or won’t attach to your listing
- Content hidden: a listing or profile element is temporarily not visible to others
- Edit required: you’ll be asked to update the content before it can be published
- Account action: restrictions or suspension for repeated or severe violations
How to report something
If you encounter content that violates these standards:
- Use the Report option in the app when available
- If you can’t find a report option, contact support and include a link/screenshot and a short description of what you saw
Appeals and questions
If you believe a moderation decision was incorrect, contact support with:
- The content you posted (or a screenshot)
- Where it appeared (listing/profile)
- Any context that helps explain the situation
We’ll review and respond as quickly as we can.
Our commitment
We’re committed to maintaining a marketplace that families can trust. That means setting clear standards, acting on violations, and continuously improving our tools and processes to reduce harmful content.Last modified on February 15, 2026
