Listing photos and videos
Use Media & Documents to add the photos and optional video buyers will see on your listing. You use this same media flow in two places:- Create Listing - Step 3
- Manage Listing - Edit Photos & Documents
What you can upload
- Up to 10 photos/videos per listing
- At least 1 photo or video is required to continue
- Video is optional
- Files selected through your device or browser’s image/video picker
Upload limits
- Maximum file size for photos: 25 MB
- Maximum file size for videos: 50 MB
- You can reorder uploaded media before moving on
- You can remove an item and replace it if needed
How to keep videos under 50 MB
If your video is too large to upload, make a smaller copy before trying again.- Keep the clip short. A focused 10 to 30 second video is usually enough for buyers.
- Trim the beginning and end to remove setup time, walking, or extra footage.
- Export at 720p if your original file is too large. If needed, try a shorter 1080p clip instead of a long one.
- Use MP4 when possible. It is one of the most common formats and is usually smaller than raw phone video formats.
- Lower the frame rate to 24 fps or 30 fps if your editor gives you that option.
- Avoid recording in 4K or 60 fps unless you plan to compress the file afterward.
- Check the final file size in your device’s file details before uploading again.
What to show in a short video
If you only have room for one short clip, focus on what helps buyers most:- A steady view of the animal or group from a normal distance
- Natural movement, posture, and overall condition
- A quick view of distinguishing traits that match the listing description
- Good lighting and minimal background clutter
Video is optional. If your video still will not fit under the 50 MB limit, continue with clear photos first and use the description to add context.
Supported file types
The app does not use a short fixed extension allowlist for listing media. It accepts files your device or browser provides as an image or video through the picker.- Images: broadly accepted as
image/* - Videos: broadly accepted as
video/*
- Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, GIF, WebP
- Videos: MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM
The exact list can vary by platform, browser, and device. If a file does not appear in the picker or will not attach, convert it to a common format like JPG for images or MP4 for video.
What can stop an upload
Your upload may be blocked, skipped, or require another action if:- A photo is larger than 25 MB
- A video is larger than 50 MB
- The file is not recognized by your device or browser as an image or video file
- The upload is still in progress
- A photo safety check is still running
- A photo is rejected by moderation
How moderation works
After upload, photos are checked before they are treated as ready for your listing. Videos do not go through the same image moderation step. For more detail about content standards and enforcement, see Moderation & Family Safety.- Checking… means a photo review is still running
- Rejected means that photo will not count toward your listing media, and the Continue button stays disabled until you remove it
- Check failed - Retry means a photo review did not finish and you should try again
- Videos upload directly and may continue background processing for compatibility and thumbnails after the upload succeeds
- You have at least 1 accepted photo or video
- There are no uploads still running
- There are no photos still being checked
- There are no rejected photos left attached
What you should not upload
Do not upload media that includes:- Nudity or sexual content
- Graphic violence or gore
- Hate speech or extremist content
- Harassment, threats, or personal information
- Illegal activity, scams, or spam
- Animal abuse, cruelty, or neglect
- Disturbing imagery or content that is not appropriate for a broad audience
Tips for smoother uploads
- Use clear, well-lit photos that show the animals accurately
- Keep photos under 25 MB and videos under 50 MB before you start
- Wait for Checking… to finish before leaving the media screen
- If a media check fails, use Retry
- Use the separate Listing Documents section for PDFs and paperwork
